ECA Video Series Launched in the House of Lords

We were recently delighted to partner with The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and Content With Purpose (CWP) to produce a forward-looking digital series exploring the transformative journey of electrification in the UK.

Our role was to be part of a series of short films and interviews, telling the story of our apprentices and how Powercor is playing its part to drive clean energy transition across every aspect of modern society, from transport to housing, industry to commerce.

We were incredibly excited to attend the ECA launch event at the House of Lords in January 2025, with Lord Don Foster (a Lib Dem peer) having agreed to sponsor a room.

The series had a number or worthy objectives:

  • HIGHLIGHT THE CONNECTION between the role of the electrotechnical sector in delivering a Britain for the future
  • PROMOTE innovative approaches, technologies, and methodologies to the profession
  • REACH & INFORM the next generation to attract talent and encourage companies to hire apprentices and graduates as a solution to the resourcing shortage
  • INFLUENCE policy makers to provide a framework for change and support a smooth transition
  • RAISE THE PROFILE of the electrotechnical profession within the built environment ecosystem
  • SHOWCASE excellence in collaboration and partnership working

Film One – Industry Skills Challenges

In the first video, our CEO, Chris Wright talks about the skills shortage within the industry and what we need to do as an industry and country to meet the UK’s decarbonisation challenges.

Film Two – Creating Fulfilling Careers and Partnerships

In the second film, we see the typical daily variety and challenges of one of our apprentices. Our managing director, Richard Grace, also talks about how we as a company are determined to provide exciting and fulfilling opportunities to those coming into the industry. And Steve Meadows, Services and Operations Director talks about the powerful partnership between  Signify and Powercor.

Powercor is determined to champion what we believe to be a fantastic industry, one that holds significant potential for those looking for a varied, interesting and rewarding career choice.
