LUX Levels for lighting design – what should they be?

Long gone are the days we used to put our finger in the air and come to a number of lights we “think” should be installed.

Health & Safety standards states that lighting levels need to have a minimum illuminance level which means the process of deciding on the amount of lights, the LUX output of that particular luminaire, actual relevance of a particular luminaire in any given scenario is suitable and meets industry standards.

With the use of Dialux, a lighting design programme…Powercor are able to simulate for the client what lighting outputs they currently have and it gives a very accurate understanding of what lighting levels will be expected when installing LED. Not only does it give peace of mind to the client but it also gives Powercor credibility in the sense that we are complying with lighting standards.
