Bradfield College is a British co-educational independent school for day and boarding pupils, located in the small village of Bradfield in the English county of Berkshire.
It is noted for producing plays in Ancient Greek and its open-air amphitheatre.
The college was founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens, Rector and Lord of the Manor of Bradfield. It has around 490 male and 320 female pupils.

In order to comply with the England Cricket Board (ECB), Lux levels (750lux) for the new cricket facility was critical as hard balls are being hit at up to 160km/h. The new facility’s lighting offers maximum safety due to its lighting.
Powercor installed Gentlespace High Bays controlled by a Philips’ Dynalite system enabling the facitilities manager and coaches to control the lighting levels based on their immediate needs.
When not in use, the dimmed lights gave Bradfield College massive energy savings, uniformity of light, instantaneous lighting when required, reduced running costs as well as lowering the maintenance needed. This all added to an already world-class, state of the art training facility.
In order to comply with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) UK, 750 lux is required at floor level for Tennis and this was the number one requirement for the new lighting installation.
The before and after pictures tells the story: shadows and dark spots were the norm in the Tennis Centre. After installing the Philips High Bays, lux levels were at the required levels and every player immediately noticed the difference.

Bradfield College wanted to improve the uniformity distribution of light, a cool lighting colour and reduced glare on the water surface so the pool staff had a better view.
Powercor are the specialists and designed a lighting scheme that would provide all of the colleges requirements and thanks to a special coating on the luminaires that protects against specific environmental corrosives, such as water vapour, chlorine and cleaning products knew the exact luminaire that could achieve this and more.
By working with the college and carrying out the installation, we also achieved huge reductions in power consumption thus improving carbon emissions and actual running costs.
