Supporting communities, inspiring future generations

Powercor is committed to giving back to local communities and charity groups so that the development of future generations is supported.

We actively engage in supporting local charities and community groups, believing that our contributions can make a real difference. Our efforts focus on, not only on financial support, but also fostering educational and developmental opportunities, such as our long-term support of the STEM charity SATRO and their Energy Saving Challenge. By investing in community programs and sustainable projects, Powercor aims to create a lasting, positive impact on society and the environment.

Sponsor of the SATRO energy saving challenge

Powercor has been committed to a long-term collaboration with Surrey-based STEM charity SATRO and their ‘Energy Saving Challenge’. The Challenge is an opportunity to put students at the heart of sustainability thinking and explore ways to reduce their school’s carbon footprint. Primary-school children are tasked to design, develop and implement ideas that reduce electricity usage in their schools purely through behaviour change. Central to the Energy Saving Challenge is our automated metering and targeting (AM&T) units. These are installed free of charge and allow each school to monitor energy use and produce detailed data charts and graphs that the children can review as part of their programme.

Local football sponsorships

Powercor has been at the heart of its community for many years and now sponsors three local football teams: Ottershaw Men’s, Abbey Rangers Ladies, and Addlestone Mens & Youth. Through this support, we aim to give back to a community that has been instrumental to our success. Our involvement aims to nurture local talent, promote sportsmanship, and foster a sense of unity and pride. We believe in the power of sports to inspire and bring people together, and we’re delighted to contribute to the growth and success of these teams.

Holme Farm charity

Powercor is dedicated to nurturing community growth and development through its support of Holme Farm, a volunteer-led initiative in Woodham, Surrey. This 8-acre site, once an old farm, is being transformed into a vibrant community hub. Powercor’s involvement aids in developing educational spaces, gardens, orchards, and wildlife areas, cultivating a diverse range of community needs. Through this partnership, we demonstrate our commitment to enhancing local environments and supporting projects that have a meaningful impact on community wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

Salvation Army Xmas appeal

Powercor’s annual contribution to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal reflects our dedication to supporting those in need, spreading some warmth during the holidays. By partnering with the Salvation Army, we play at least a small role in providing essential support and services to families and individuals, ensuring that the spirit of giving and compassion is alive and well.
