Leading horse breeder protects against equine virus with UV-C Lighting
Bourne Hill Stables, based in West Sussex, is home to the International Show Jumping Team and plays host to the best riders and horses in the UK. Powercor, introduced Bourne Hall to the Philips range of UV-C disinfection devices where they opted to add an extra layer of protection to key areas in the stables.

OUR APPROACH AND IMPACT
The equine community has been combatting its own virus outbreak in recent years, with the neurological form of equine herpes virus (EHV-1). Of great concern to horse breeders, the virus has been linked to abortions and neonatal foal deaths across Europe. It was essential that a fast-acting solution was found, but one that was practical in a working stables environment and did not unsettle these valuable horses in any way.
Bourne Hill Stables sought added protection for its world class horses and instructed Powercor to install Philips UV-C disinfection lighting with-in the stables.
Philips Lighting’s UV-C products use ultraviolet light to inactivate 99% of viruses and bacteria, including EHV-1, rendering them harmless to humans and horses alike.
As a direct result of the increased virus risk, Bourne Hill Stables instructed Powercor to install 22 Philips UV-C Upper Air (Wall Mount) Units to disinfect air within the stables.
Our partner Signify has been at the forefront of UV technology with a proven track record of innovation in UV-C lighting over the past 35 years. Their Philips UV-C products, used and installed correctly, are a reliable and highly effective form of disinfection. This installation of UV-C lighting products was undertaken by Powercor’s fully trained staff.
