Located in Driffield, East Yorkshire, the Wansford Trout and Course Fishery has two fishing ponds where anglers can fish for Brown or Rainbow Trout, or Carp and Perch.

The farm has recently invested in two large indoor breeding facilities that each house three spawning and growth pools. Lighting for the facility was designed and supplied by Signify, making use of DALI controlled LED batten fittings. A dynalite lighting controls package was supplied for each shed that consists of a DDBC120 – DALI Controller, a PDEG Ethernet Gateway, and a PADPE Antumbra Display button station for local control.  Powercor are proud to have provided commissioning services, working directly with the farm to interpret their control strategy requirements, and provide an easy to use, flexible platform that can adapt and grow as required.

Lighting in the breeding sheds is used to artificially regulate the perceived daylight in the pools thus encouraging the feeding patterns and growth of the fish stock.

The lighting has been grouped over each of the three pools in each shed to allow the farm to regulate the lighting for each pool if required. Using a computer located in the farm’s offices, the staff are able to set lighting schedules, and artificially create longer days in the winter months to promote enhanced growth of the fish.  Scheduling functions are performed by the internal webserver on the PDEG Ethernet Gateway, which is accessed via a point to point wireless ethernet system between the office and the breeding sheds.

In order to provide live status, and a calendar based GUI for lighting schedules, Powercor will be installing Dynalite System Manager on the control PC, which will give the farm a broader set of tools to manage the system.  Amongst these tools will be the ability for the system to automatically monitor and report any failed light fittings, and a simple drag and drop scheduling function.
